How does Acequia save water?
Acequia’s team of trained agronomists measure 17 unique environmental factors to help determine exactly how many gallons of water are needed to benefit plants and landscapes. Acequia’s patented technology calculates soil moisture based on soil types, root-zone depth, plant species, slope of the ground, soil compaction, shade and wind blockage. It also measures temperature, wind speed/direction, solar radiation and humidity – all the elements that make up daily evapo-transpiration moisture loss. Acequia’s system uses this real-time information to apply just enough water to maintain the optimum water-to-oxygen ratios for specific plants within an irrigation zone. And with the click of a mouse, Acequia project managers can turn off an entire irrigation system or just one broken or misdirected sprinkler head at any of its clients' properties in order to eliminate waste.

How much water does Acequia save?
Acequia is so confident in their water management solution, they guarantee client water savings. On average, Acequia saves clients between 50 – 80 percent of their historical water consumption. This has resulted in over 1.5 billion gallons of water saved and growing.
How is Acequia's system different than ET (evapo-transpiration) controllers?
Acequia's system measures 17 unique environmental factors to determine exactly how many gallons of water will benefit plants and landscapes. Acequia also measures temperature, wind speed/direction, solar radiation and humidity - all the elements that make up daily evapo-transpiration moisture loss. Each of these factors is documented for hundreds of irrigation zones on each property. By comparison, the ET (evapo-transpiration) controllers only take into account evaporative loss and nothing else.
How much does it cost a company for Acequia to manage their irrigation?
Acequia’s services are paid for by water savings. Acequia conducts a detailed site analysis calculating a client’s historical water consumption and then compares that to what the client is paying for water after the Acequia system is installed. The resulted water savings is then shared between Acequia and the client.
How can Acequia improve property value?
By decreasing operational expenses through water savings, Acequia increases a property’s net operation income. In addition, the property will experience improved landscape appearance and protection.
